Hoboken Community Advocate Ron Bautista Endorses Katie Brennan for State Assembly

Community advocate Ron Bautista has endorsed Katie Brennan for State Assembly, citing her record on affordable housing and clear plans to address the housing crisis, school funding, and transit challenges across the state.

Bautista, a former candidate for County Commissioner, emphasized Brennan’s independence from the political machine and their donors.

Last year, Bautista and Brennan worked together with tenant groups to successfully defend Hoboken’s rent control law after a landlord-backed organization tried to eliminate it. The ballot question to weaken rent control was rejected by a 3-to-1 margin, with roughly 73% of voters against it.

“Katie will answer to everyday people, not the real estate lobbyists. Her record speaks for itself, and you can follow the money to see who’s funding the other slates,” said Ron Bautista. “Katie has a record of fighting for tenants, and she understands affordable housing better than anyone in the state. She’s ready to meet the moment and she’s not afraid to fight for what she believes in.”

Bautista praised Brennan’s platform, which includes:

  • Strengthening tenant protections and Right to Counsel in eviction court

  • Improving the PATH and NJ Transit with more frequent and reliable service

  • Fully funding schools and expanding access to childcare and paid family leave

“For as long as I’ve known Ron, he’s always been fighting for the people of Hudson County. I’m proud to have his support,” said Katie Brennan. “This campaign is about delivering real change for renters, parents, and commuters, and I’m ready to get to work.”

The endorsement adds momentum to Brennan’s campaign as she builds a broad coalition of supporters committed to making New Jersey more responsive to the needs of its everyday people.

The Democratic primary for State Assembly is June 10.
